Here’s one thing that I had experienced for the first time in my job. Probe and drogue.
Do you remember the time when you were a kid and played the NES game “Top Gun”. Do you remember how frustating how you cannot get that damn tanker to refuel your plane and you end up losing one life? Well, from what I heard in real life, shits not that much easier. They call this the iron maiden. Why? Imagine a 70 lb iron with a little frilly skirt to stabilize it dangling from a hose doing 260 knots in mid air. You miss and you end up banging either your canopy or the side of the jet.
Imagine all the hell you go through with your nintendo game and the frustration of this pilot on getting his gas…
Now imagine us, on the other end, laughing. No, just kidding. We would never do that. But really, all we do is observe, to make sure everything goes safe in both the receiver and most importantly in our jet.
Felt like the month is too short and then you just get pounded of things to do equals not a happy camper.
Insight? Well one of the contemplation about posting is wether I even want to blog and second, is where do I wanna do it?
So on top of all this confusion that has been going on when I wa still in Oklahoma we got hit by a freezing rain weather that made us evacuate to Texas. With this happening it made me miss a couple of my 365 photos. I am ashamed to admit that I have failed to commit to that. Then, to finish my training they flew us out to San Antonio to get some quality flying done.
Went back to Florida to pack my things up for my mission qual base. Dis some tests then headed off.
Four days of traveling and it finally got us here in Portsmouth, NH where Pease still stands.
I made a quick video while refueling. This is a straight point of view from my sighting window. However, the waiting game is far more painful and way longer than this, its fast forward to save you guys the boredom.
So I was sitting in a room and studying for tomorrows mission, when all of a sudden I was disturbed to do some “action shot pictures” that I guess will be used for the squadron. They have an instructor draw an aircraft and pretend that he was teaching me what it was all about. I played along. The instructor was not an artist of any sort and so the other was forced to jump in and draw his version of it which is way better. (as pictured above).
Here is some explanation on the picture. Top left is me cranking to extend the flaps. That is a picture of the wing of a KC-135. The bottom part of the wing are as follows, Split Fillet, Inboard Flaps, Inboard Ailerons, Outboard Flaps and Outboard Ailerons. The 23 degrees is when the outboard flaps reach that number, you have full control of the outboard ailerons. The 9.5 and 6 is explained below. Read.
Instructor: When you manually extend the flaps, does the leading edge flap extend?
Me: Uhhh, I don’t think so…
Instructor: R U sure?
Me: … no?
Instructor: Are there any associated Warning associated with that?
Me: I guess…
Instructor: When I ask a question, Yes or No, what do you think the answer is?
Me: uhhh… yes? or no.
Instructor: It’s YES, its never no. You know why?
Me: No.
Instructor: because if it’s a no then the conversation is over. so it’s always yes. So, R U sure?
Me: YES!
Instructor: Are there any warning associated with that?
Me: uhh yes?
Instructor: YES! How it work is when they lower the flaps it goes down at 9.5 degrees and go up at 6. Now will it work if you manually extend the flap?
Me: YES!!!
Instructor: NOOO!!!! it does not. Go look for the warning.
I laughed. Then I looked for the warning and basically it says that when you manually extend the flaps the leading edge does not extend and you have to add 6 knots to the min speed when flying the approach.
It’s Bu La`ia. (Boo-La-ee-yah). Not Bulaia. Call him Bulaia and he come crack you.
This guy is funny. I used to remember watching him at night after Beavis and Butthead when I was in Hawaii. He wanted to run for governor. Don’t let me do the talking. Go ahead and watch his videos.
I miss those days.Pidgin English. Manapua. Saimin. Spam Musubi. Blue drink. Poke. Ono ono shake. I need to take my family there sometime.

I have been out of touch with my wordpress for awhile. Why? I have been playing the “which blog works for me” game. I started with wordpress and noticed that there is no follower thingamajig and decided to canx the idea. I transferred to blogger and was satisfied for a few minutes an went back to wordpress. Still not satisfied I went ahead and crossed over to tumblr. Pretty bad idea.
Tumblr was terrible. It was great to give you all the freedom to modify and follow and all that fancy stuff, but little did I know that the website has age restriction. It’s not in a written rule or agreement but it’s what I have observed.
Some requirements to increase your tumblarity:
- age is between 12-19
- you are a girl with an asian ethnicity
- your tumblr username starts with “fuckyeah______”
- you reblog every thing you see
- blogging about naked chicks
- you are a girl with any ethnicity
- you cry about every little thing
- you are good with quotations
These are some of the stuff I can think of for now.
But to make this long pos short. Deuces to the others I’m back to wordpress and I think I’m sticking with it.
A video well worth watching. Another Will Roegge video with Andy Sapp editing. Well captured video of people behind the scenes on how much camarederie you get with drifting. I for once is very jealous of the people smiling on the video, wishing I am one of those guys posing like its the prom with my Pima cotton vest along with my RL shirt with matching black pin stripe pants, side by side with a helmet and burnin rubber. Someday.
I miss the scene so much. It will take awhile to have myself back.
Being in Altus, Oklahoma made me realize how good I used to have it when I was in Japan. How I took every cool things for granted. There was actually times when I was bored going to events. All the drifting events and venue I passed because there is “always next week”. Wow, I am such a douche. Fact. Altus, Oklahoma depress the shit out of you. Fact. Good thing my family is here with me. Without them I am shit. Fact.
Anyways, here are some photos of one of the events I covered. Remind you that this was a very very long time ago, I believe it was the September 2006 issue.
Inspiration - The act or power of exercising an elevating or stimulating influence upon the intellect or emotions; the result of such influence which quickens or stimulates; as, the inspiration of occasion, of art, etc.
These are the videos that have inspired me in the year of 2009.
In no particular order:
First one is made by nekopunch. Saw the video on ziptied.com and pretty much got my adrenaline pumping from the get go. I guess that’s what Infected Mushroom do to your body. Eventhough the film was made last year it still made me fist pump throughout 2009. More can be seen at Nekopunch.
This next one is made by Joshua Herron. I think the reason why I like the video so much is because of Bloc Party x Vegas x Formula Drift = 310,018,319,001 awesome points. I went through the solution again and again, but that is how much points it accrued with the right combination. The website is full of his amazing work, be sure to check them all out.
Up next, Will Roegge (pronounced ROW-geE). I chose this video because it’s short but it gives you the excitement of drifting in the streets. It makes you want to watch more. His website offers more of his great work.
This one, from We Are Drift, amazed me. This is just a trailer of their upcoming documentary movie about drifting. The video pretty much captured the view from the spectators point of view. I can’t wait until the real movie come out and see how it turned out. I even saw one of my friend, Andy from Power Vehicles. That guy is almost on every single Ebisu Circuit video/photos around.
The next one, well watch it and wait for it to give you the chills. The sound screams pure in-your-face-smell-some-high-octane engine sound.
The next video is not car related. It features James May getting an incentive ride with a U2. James May being one of the host of Top Gear (the most amazing car show ever) and being in the Air Force makes me really appreciate this 10 minute long video.
Last, but not least, video that I made five years ago. It reminds me of the good old days. Yes, I still watch it from time to time. Makes me realize what I had is now gone but will never be forgotten. Someday, we will be back. Japan we miss you… bad.
What you see here my friend is what I am about to get as a Christmas present.
When we got home from the hospital, it was the mid day of the 25th. It was time to open presents. I grabbed the two presents that had my name on it and ripped the wrapper relentlessly. One of them consists of a DVD copy of the ‘Inglorious Basterds’ which I though was one of Quentin Tarantino’s finest movie. Anyways, let’s continue with the products and presents which I have received and about to receive.
The other was a bigger box which made me curious on what it was, it didn’t take me long to find out since I am some kind of a pro when it comes to guessing what it is from the get go. It was a Playstation 3, 250GB, doo it.
